Immigrant Protection Group

CWE’s Immigrant Protection Group provides comprehensive workshops to union members, Worker Service Centers’ (WSC) staff and constituency, and staffers at community-based organizations in need of accurate and reliable information concerning the current state of our country’s immigration policies.

Our goal is to provide New Americans with a greater understanding of their rights and how changes in the law may impact them and their families.

CWE partners with WSC and experienced immigration lawyers with over twenty years of experience in the field. This is a great opportunity for unions to provide an additional service to their members and family members and to extend their presence in our communities.

Know Your Rights: This capacity building workshop is offered to staff members of organizations that work with immigrants by training them in providing up to date information and strategies they can deliver to their constituency on how to protect themselves and their families.

All workshops are delivered in a confidential and safe environment. CWE works closely with the hosting organization to include additional information relevant to their constituency and the population they serve.

This workshop includes, among other topics:

  • What to do if ICE comes to your home, your workplace, or stops you on the street

  • Deportation Defense

  • Pathways to a Green Card in the USA

  • VAWA self petition, DACA – TPS -Asylum

  • The ten year law; The 245(i) Law
